From Options Travel News:
( CHICAGO) Beginning Tuesday night, Sept. 4, 2007, the Department of
Aviation will begin Phase I of bridge work on I-90 westbound over Bessie
Coleman Drive.
The I-90 westbound on-ramp from Mannheim Road will be closed for the
duration of the construction, which is scheduled for completion in
early
November.
One of three westbound lanes on the I-90 bridge will be closed until
construction work is completed. Nightly lane closures on Bessie Coleman
Drive will take place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Saturday.
Travelers heading for O'Hare International Airport from the North on
Mannheim Road will be detoured to Bessie Coleman Drive via Zemke Road.
Motorists using Economy Parking Lots E, F and G may need additional
time
to access those lots.
Phase II of the bridge re-construction is scheduled for spring 2008.
In addition to the Department of Aviation road work, the Illinois
Department of Transportation is resurfacing a section of Mannheim Road,
between Irving Park Rd. / IL Route 19 and Zemke Blvd. It is scheduled
for
completion in Mid-October, weather permitting.
The IDOT project will require night time lane closures between 8 p.m.
and 5 a.m., reducing traffic to one lane in each direction. In addition,
motorists should expect occasional overnight ramp closures at I-190
between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Detour routes will be posted during these
closures.
Airport passengers traveling through these construction zones should
allow ample time for parking, ticketing and checking baggage. It is
suggested that all domestic and international departing passengers
arrive at least two hours prior to their scheduled flight departure.
A map of the construction zones is attached with this advisory.
